As project manager, I design, develop, and implement innovative processes and infrastructures that encourage ethical modes of project development and engagement.
Program Redesign for MSU’s Digital Scholarship Lab
In my role as Digital Scholarship Librarian, I was asked to conduct a program redesign for the MSU Digital Scholarship Lab (DSL). With limited staff and an extensive technical infrastructure to support, the lab was interested in determining who their key clientele were, areas for growth, and possible projects and services to sunset. In addition to these needs, lab stakeholders were interested in learning why individuals were using the lab, as well as whether existing communication structures were effectively reaching campus and community audiences. Working with a team of stakeholders, I led our team through the following redesign processes:
- Step 1: Conducted an environmental scan of the DSL’s current services, users, and stakeholders
- Step 2: Interviewed employees, users, and stakeholders to assess needs
- Step 3: Compiled and assessed data from the environmental scan, interviews, and user analytics
- Step 4: Developed a summative report and data visualizations to share findings with stakeholders
- Step 5: Implemented recommendations and program revisions
- Step 6: Reassessed findings at regular intervals and implemented new revisions as needed
Through this process, I was able to guide the Digital Scholarship Lab team in assessing existing data, gathering new forms of patron feedback, and increasing user engagement with the lab’s services. Images of the Digital Scholarship Lab can be found below.

Software Development for AREPR
In my role as the Technical and Operations Director for AREPR, I was asked to work with our developer, Ivy Rose, to produce Omeka S themes and modules for use with community-based archives–taking a particular focus on accessibility, multilingual support, and replicability for similar projects. The end result is a more engaging, accessible, and aesthetically pleasing website that requires less coding knowledge from project partners.
- “Multilingual” Omeka S theme. Ivy Rose (developer), Andrew Boyles Petersen (technical director). Theme provides for switchable multilingual sites, accessibility functionality, and improved CSS and other stylistic adaptability.
- “Vimeo” Omeka S module. Ivy Rose (developer), Andrew Boyles Petersen (technical director). Module allows for easy embedding of Vimeo videos, providing an interactive transcript UI, higher resolution video thumbnails, and improved accessibility.
- “SimplePDF” Omeka S module. Ivy Rose (developer), Andrew Boyles Petersen (technical director). Module provides a document viewer for PDF files with a key focus on accessibility, allowing for screen reader usage in multiple languages and accessible PDFs.
